Roxy

Roxy

Piano, Four Hands

Programme Note

Roxy is about people dancing. It rotates around the uniform gestures and shapes people make whilst in a tight space together, and the waves of energy, activity and trance like states that wash over them in that time together.

Just before writing the piece I met a friend of a friend called Roxy. The piece takes her name, but is not a character piece.

Roxy was written for the Cheltenham Music Festival, and premiered at the Parabola Arts Centre on 12/7/16, by the MANTRAS duo, to whom I am eternally grateful for their guidance and support in writing the piece.
